Why we went…

Chocolate! And an easy launching point for a five country trip through Europe.

How we got there…

Economy on Swiss Air. This is one of Spencer’s favorite airlines. It is efficient, comfortable and they give out swiss chocolate.

Where we stayed…

Hotel Adler is a fantastic hotel in the heart of Zurich’s old town. The historic architecture and cobble stone streets were charming. The location couldn’t be better. We could walk everywhere! The rooms are small, but they are clean and comfortable. It is an easy and scenic 10 minute walk from the train station.

Where we ate…

Swiss Chuchi – Connected to the Hotel Adler, Swiss Chuchi is a fantastic traditional fondue and raclette restaurant. The cozy alpine atmosphere feels quintessentially Swiss.

Gastoff Falken – A lovely upscale Swiss restaurant with a patio for the warmer months.

What we did…

Lindt Chocolate Factory – This was an absolute highlight of Zurich. The factory and museum is in a modern and beautiful space. It is interactive and education. The tastings along the way and the giant chocolate shop capped off this very fun experience. Definitely make a reservation. They are very strict about the timed entry. We were early and had to wait 15 minutes.

FIFA World Football Museum – This is a fun and interactive museum for kids or any football (soccer) fan. The displays are beautiful and very interesting. There is also a fun interactive room with different football challenges.

Ferry Ride on Lake Zurich – We did the 1.5 hour ferry cruise on Lake Zurich. The views were beautiful, and it was a nice rest from walking. There is a cafe/bar/restaurant on board.

Exploring Old Town – Zurich’s old town is filled with cobble stone streets, colorful architecture, bars, restaurants and chocolate shops. We walked good amount and always took a different route through town.

Room Escape Room – Spence and I love escape rooms. We have started to incorporate them into our travels when we have time. We found this amazing escape room in Zurich that was different from anything we have ever done. In Search of Gulliver is in a room built for a giant. We climbed giant sized furniture! It was very fun and very physical.

Day Trip to Liechtenstein – Only 1 h and 15 minutes from Zurich, the country of Liechtenstein is a great day trip. We walked Llamas through the alps, explored the city of Valduz and did a wine tasting. See my post on Liechtenstein for pictures and details.
