Why we went…
We wanted to sandwich a little beach and pool time in between two big cities. It was the kids’ first time to Thailand, and it was very fun for me to explore a new part of the country.
How we got there…
We flew Tiger Air from Taipei to Phuket. Tiger Air is very bare bones, but the price was right. The flight was a long five hours. Definitely have a good book or some shows downloaded on the iPad.
Where we stayed…
We stayed at Keemala. The tree house architecture is beautiful and unique. We had our own two-story villa with a private pool that was refreshing and big enough to play Marco Polo. The views are spectacular. The hotel offers a very convenient golf cart service to shuttle us to and from our room. The spa is lovely. The main pool is beautiful and has a great swim up bar and restaurant. The main restaurant has both a Thai chef and an Indian chef. We enjoyed both. The breakfast buffet is one of the best we’ve had with plenty of options for everyone.

Where we ate…
We ate at the hotel the entire stay. The restaurant is wonderful. They serve delicious Thai and Indian dishes, and also chicken tenders and pesto pasta for Spencer. The breakfast buffet was a culinary highlight. Spencer enjoyed the unlimited passion fruit.

What we did…
When in Thailand, you must do a cooking class! Our hotel provided a great private class out by the pool. We made a three course meal that included a soup and a delicious Thai curry. The ingredients and cooking processes are so unique and we enjoyed learning and then tasting.

Massages are also a must in Thailand. On this trip with the kids, we visited the spa at the hotel. It was fantastic. If I were visiting with my husband, we would definitely try some more local spots in town for cheaper massage options.
The kids wanted an adventure so we went ziplining. Erawan Patong Seaview Ziplining picked us up at our hotel, drove us to the location, and brought us back. It was convenient and safe. We opted for the mid-level package which includes one time through the zipline course. It was a lot of fun, and the views were spectacular.

We also spent a couple hours at the beach near the hotel. The hotel provides a shuttle to and from the beach, and they can also arrange a taxi if the shuttle times don’t work with your schedule. Though not the most beautiful, Kamala Beach was a wonderful local experience and we all took a dip in the Andaman Sea. We paid the equivalent of $3 to rent three beach chairs. The town also looked cute to walk around, get a massage, and do some local shopping if you want to spend more time.
